1. Legal Framework
Under a Scheme agreed by UAT the Trustees make Grants towards:
“Mission and church planting in London and beyond”.
2. Current guidelines and interpretation
In carrying out this function our policy guidelines are as follows:
(a) To help fund church planting activity in start-up and development phases
(b) To take account of the applicant’s broader mission strategy.
(c) To focus on people more than on capital or operating expenditure.
(d) To require a element of co-funding from the beneficiary.
(e) Not to fund when there is no close connection to worship or mission.
3. Purpose, items of expense etc.
The amount of the grant which you are seeking must be indicated as must the way you intend to spend any grant which is awarded. We may ask for supplementary information.
4. Funding acknowledgement
We ask you to acknowledge UAT in your accounts and other relevant publications and to explain where the funds have been applied.
We may ask you to report to us separately in more detail on how the grant is being/was spent and what impact it has made.
5. Audited/Inspected accounts – other financial information
Please include your last audited/inspected accounts on each occasion of applying. If this is not done it is very unlikely that any grant will be awarded. In the case of a new plant/community where accounts have not yet been issued please provide a copy of your budget for the current year and the most up-to-date management accounts/report with a commentary on any significant variances.
6. Application procedure for start-up projects
The application form will need to be completed and submitted countersigned by both leaders: the ‘sending’ church’s and the church plant’s.
7. Closing date for applications
We are unlikely to be able to consider applications received after a closing date.
8. Format for sending
The application form itself should be sent by email as a single Word document, with the final page printed out and signed and sent by post. Any other documents that you need to send us can be either emailed with the form, in whatever format you have, or if you only have hard copies, they may be posted together with the signed final page of the form referenced above. If you wish to check if your application is safely received, feel free to email us.
9. Notification of decisions
Applicants will be notified within 6 weeks of the deadline for applications.
10. Further Guidance
If you need further guidance on your application, please read the accompanying FAQs (Frequently Asked Question) and if you want more advice or information contact UAT by email as soon as possible and at least three weeks before the deadline.
UAT will expect to receive a report on how any grant that is made has been spent. This report should be succinct but we expect that it will show that the benefits to the church and community have been evaluated. The report should be made as soon as possible – but not more than six months after the award and every six months until the project for which the grant was awarded is completed. A report form will be available on UAT’s website. Failure to make reports may be taken into account by Trustees when considering any later application.
